What are the manuscript and interior file requirements?
What are the manuscript and interior file requirements?
Your manuscript or interior file contains the main content of your book.
Before submitting your book for publication, make sure the content is complete, readable, correctly formatted, and prepared for the publishing format you selected.
The requirements may differ depending on whether you:
- Write the book directly in Creator Studio
- Import an editable Word document
- Upload a finished PDF or EPUB file
What is the manuscript or interior file?
The manuscript or interior file contains the pages inside your book.
It may include:
- Title page
- Copyright page
- Dedication
- Table of contents
- Chapters
- Images or illustrations, where applicable
- Notes
- Acknowledgements
- Other front or back matter
Your book cover is uploaded separately and is not part of the manuscript or interior file.
Books created in Creator Studio
If you start writing your book directly in Creator Studio, you can write, edit, organize, and format the manuscript inside PubliWrite.
Before submitting it, make sure that:
- All chapters are complete
- Chapters are in the correct order
- Headings and chapter titles are consistent
- Paragraph spacing looks correct
- Page breaks appear where needed
- Images or decorative elements display correctly
- The title and author name are correct
- The manuscript is final and ready for review
You can use the preview option to check how the book will appear before submitting it.
Word documents imported into Creator Studio
If you already have a draft or manuscript saved as a Word document, you can import a .docx file and continue editing it inside Creator Studio.
The maximum Word file size is 50 MB.
During the import, PubliWrite will:
- Import the text from your document
- Preserve headings and paragraphs where possible
- Detect possible chapters using your headings
- Split the content into editable chapters
- Open the manuscript in Creator Studio
After importing, you can continue writing, edit the text, reorganize chapters, adjust formatting, invite collaborators, use PubliAgent tools, and prepare the book for publication.
What should I check after importing a Word document?
Some complex Word formatting may not transfer exactly as it appeared in the original file.
After importing, review:
- Chapter divisions
- Headings
- Paragraph spacing
- Lists
- Page breaks
- Images
- Tables
- Decorative elements
- Other complex formatting
Clear and consistent Word headings can improve chapter detection, but you can rename, reorder, merge, add, or remove chapters after the import.
You can also use the preview option before submitting the book.
Uploading a finished PDF or EPUB
If your manuscript is complete and does not need to be edited inside Creator Studio, choose I already have a finished file.
This option allows you to upload a publication-ready:
- EPUB
A finished PDF or EPUB uploaded through this option cannot be edited inside Creator Studio.
If changes are needed, update the original file outside PubliWrite and upload the corrected version.
What does “publication-ready” mean?
A finished file should be complete and ready to be delivered to readers or used for publication.
Before uploading it, make sure that:
- The full manuscript is included
- Chapters and sections are in the correct order
- There are no missing pages or sections
- The title and author name are correct
- The formatting is clean and consistent
- Images, tables, or special elements display correctly
- The file opens without errors
- The file is not blank or corrupted
- The file is not password protected
- You are uploading the correct final version
