Can I publish under a pen name?
Can I publish under a pen name?
Yes. PubliWrite allows authors to publish books under a pen name.
A pen name is a public author name that appears on your book page and published book instead of your legal name or account name.
Why use a pen name?
You may want to use a pen name if you want to:
- Keep your public author identity separate from your personal identity
- Write in different genres under different names
- Create a specific author brand
- Publish under a name that feels more suitable for your readers
- Protect your privacy as an author
How do I create a pen name?
To create a pen name:
- Go to your Dashboard.
- Select Pen names.
- Click Add Pen Name.
- Complete the required information, such as:
- Pen name
- Author bio
- Slug
- Click Save.
Once saved, the pen name can be used during the publishing process, where available.

What information appears publicly?
When you publish under a pen name, readers may see the pen name as the author name connected to your book.
Depending on your book page and author profile, the public information may include:
- Pen name
- Author bio
- Book title
- Book description
- Book cover
- Other public book details
Your account details and payment information are not displayed publicly as part of the pen name.
Can I have more than one pen name?
Yes. You can create and manage multiple pen names from the Pen names section of your dashboard depending on the plan you have.
This can be useful if you write in different genres or want to keep separate author identities.
Can I change or update a pen name later?
You can manage your existing pen names from the Pen names section of your dashboard.
If your book has already been submitted or published, changes to the author name connected to that book may require review or support from the PubliWrite team.
Important note
Your pen name is the public author name, but your PubliWrite account should still contain accurate personal and payment details where required.
This helps PubliWrite manage verification, payments, withdrawals, and account security correctly.
