What is the minimum number of pages for print?
If you want to publish your book in print, your manuscript needs to meet the minimum page requirement for the selected print format.
Minimum page requirements are important because printed books need enough interior pages to be physically produced and bound correctly.
Minimum page count by format
The minimum number of interior pages is:
Print format | Minimum interior pages |
|---|---|
Paperback | 24 pages |
Hardcover | 27 pages |
What counts as interior pages?
Interior pages include the pages inside your book, such as:
- Title page
- Copyright page
- Dedication
- Table of contents
- Chapters
- Images or illustrations
- Notes, acknowledgements, or back matter
The cover is not included in the interior page count.
What if my book has fewer pages?
If your manuscript has fewer than the minimum required pages, it may not be eligible for print publication in that format.
You may need to add additional content, such as front matter, back matter, illustrations, notes, or extra sections, before submitting the book for print.
Important note
Before submitting your print book, make sure your interior file is complete, correctly formatted, and meets the minimum page count for the format you selected.
