How does PubliWrite’s collaborative editor work?
PubliWrite’s collaborative editor is the workspace where you can write, organize, edit, and prepare your manuscript for publication.
You can use the editor on your own or collaborate with others, such as co-authors, editors, proofreaders, beta readers, or other contributors.
What can you do in the editor?
Inside the editor, you can:
- Write and edit your manuscript
- Organize your book into chapters and sections
- Format your text and prepare your manuscript for publication
- Preview your manuscript
- Manage manuscript settings
- Invite collaborators to work with you
- Leave, view, and manage comments
- Review previous versions of your manuscript
- Use PubliAgent writing tools to refine, write, summarize, or explore word alternatives
- Start the publishing process when your manuscript is ready
Main areas of the editor
The editor is divided into several areas that help you manage different parts of your manuscript.
Manuscript area
The manuscript area is the main writing space. This is where you write, edit, and review the content of your book.
Top formatting toolbar
The top toolbar gives you access to formatting options, such as text styles, headings, lists, alignment, images, comments, and other manuscript tools.
Left sidebar
The left sidebar helps you manage the structure and setup of your manuscript.
From here, you can access:
- Outline — to view and organize your chapters and sections
- Characters — to manage character-related information, where available
- Preview — to review how your manuscript looks
- Settings — to adjust manuscript details, formatting options, and other setup elements
Right sidebar
The right sidebar gives you access to collaboration and writing assistance tools.
From here, you can access:
- Comments — to leave or review feedback
- Versioning — to review saved versions of your manuscript
- Refine — to improve selected text with PubliAgent
- Write — to get writing assistance from PubliAgent
- Thesaurus — to explore alternative words or phrasing
- Summarize — to summarize selected content
Working alone or with collaborators
You do not need collaborators to use the editor. If you are writing alone, you can use PubliWrite to draft, organize, format, and prepare your book by yourself.
If you are working with others, you can invite collaborators and use comments, roles, and version history to keep the editing process organized.
What is PubliAgent?
PubliAgent is PubliWrite’s built-in writing assistant. It can help you refine text, generate writing support, explore word alternatives, and summarize content.
PubliAgent tools are available inside the editor, but you should always review any suggestions before adding them to your manuscript.
For more details, see: What is PubliAgent?
When your manuscript is ready
When your manuscript is complete and prepared for submission, you can use the Publish button to begin the publishing process.
Your book will then go through PubliWrite’s review process before it becomes available to readers.
