How do I split the royalties with a collaborator?

On our platform, revenue from book sales can be shared among collaborators, making it easy to reward everyone who contributed. The book owner has full control over how the revenue is split during the publication process, deciding who gets a share and how much each person will receive. At the moment only other co-authors are eligible for receiving a share of the revenue.

The owner also sets the price of the book before it goes live. If preferred, the owner can choose to take 100% of the revenue. Once the book is published, the platform deducts a 10% service fee from every sale, and the remaining amount is divided according to the chosen revenue split.

This flexible system ensures that all collaborators are fairly compensated while allowing the owner to make final decisions on pricing and revenue sharing.

Example: How Payments Are Calculated

Let’s break down how revenue is distributed for a book sold at $10. The platform takes a 10% service fee, and the remaining 90% is shared among the collaborators based on the chosen revenue split.

ItemAmount
Book Sale Price$10.00
Platform Fee (10%)$1.00
Remaining Revenue (90%)$9.00
- Owner's Share (70%)$6.30
- Co-Author 1's Share (20%)$1.80
- Co-Author 2's Share (10%)$0.90

In this example, the platform fee is $1, leaving $9 to be divided among the collaborators. The owner receives $6.30, the co-author 1 gets $1.80, and co-author 2 earns $0.90 for every book sold.
